This exhibition is located in within the house which the Pankhurst family lived between 1898 - 1907 and founded the Women's Social and Political Union, otherwise known as the Suffragettes. The design was inspired by the DIY make-do attitude of the Suffragettes and their agitation methods, mixed with the modern youthful representation of the Pankhurst Centre today. It is our radical interpretation of the typical Edwardian home, which of course it was not. ​The exhibition explores the family life at this home, discussing how Manchester has always been a hub for activism and political discussion, the loss of Robert Pankhurst and Emmeline's work as a mother, worker, volunteer and activist in the Women's community. It also explore the families activism within and after the women's suffrage movement, and allows visitors to sit in on a Suffragette meeting in the room where it all happened! ​It has been an honour to work on this project, as a design and a woman.
